Martha has a deep passion for creative inspiration, especially with others. In her workshops, she uses her extensive pedagogical experience to host safe spaces that are empowering, insightful, and fun! She has often seen that how when people feel validated in their creativity, it can lead to incredible changes in their lives.

Poetry and art are for every time, place and thing, For everyone, Forever

Lifelong creator

While Martha enjoys all types of creativity—and has for her entire life—poetry holds a very special place in her heart.

Martha sees creativity in everyone—and wants everyone to see it for themselves. Each person has a unique creativity that binds us together. With a PhD in Design & Visual Communication from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU, 2017), she understands this idea thoroughly.

Poetry and handmade art are a powerful combination because everyone can relate to this intersection in some way. These activities seem to amplify one another. Poetry & art are ancient and bring us together, especially when they are merged.

Originally from USA, Martha has lived in Norway for 20+ years. Skogen means 'forest' in Norwegian, and with her husband and son, the forests of the world are her home—and inspiration.

What can young children can teach us about art-making?

Hint:
It has to do with judging our own work (and ourselves)
…or not

Do you remember learning your first word?

I do—it was the word ‘THE’

…and it didn’t rhyme with anything.
